Plurk does not seem to have implemented any method of finding people by usernames that you might know from other social sites.
I was doing a little playing around figuring that Google should be able to handle it. But how?
If you go to Google and type “site:plurk.com <some word(s)>” (without the quotation marks) it will search for whatever words you were looking for on pages on Plurk.
So for example, to find me a fair number of people know that I often go by beagooddad because of my parenting blog. If you go to Google and type “site:plurk.com beagooddad”, my Plurk profile is the first result.
Then I said, but why wouldn’t I have just typed http://www.plurk.com/user/beagooddad to see if that crazy beagooddad guy was on Plurk yet. Sometimes the world is pretty easy.
Then I realized that my Google search could still be useful. Let’s say I wanted to find some new Plurk friends that like to talk about Linux. Or just see what the Plurkiverse thinks about Linux. I could Google “http://plurk.com linux” and see who is talking about it.
Until Plurk adds their own internal search, Google might be the best way to go. Do you have any tips to optimize my little Google search?
