Bloglines - What are you doing to me?

Dear Bloglines,

You’re killing me.  I go out of my way to brag about you whenever I get the chance.  I let you manage all of the important online information that I like to keep track of.  I defend you when people criticise you .

And what do I get for it.

Two days of screwyness.  I can’t tell if you are sort of working or entirely broken.  It started when I noticed that the feeds for Scoble and Newsome were not updating.  That actually happened a while ago.  I found that annoying, but was willing to click over to their site while you worked it out.

Then I started getting worried that maybe other feeds were not updating, too.

It is 10X worse to have some feeds working and some not than to have every feed broken.  I can not tell what is going on when only some work.

Then last night, I noticed that I had over 2000 posts to read.  Cool.  You got it sorted out and there were a bunch of old posts that show up as new.  I just need to mark them all read and everything will be good again.  I start clicking through marking as read.  Then I hit refresh.  2000+ posts again.  No matter what, the post counts are not going down.  And it is only happening to certain blogs.  About half of them.  The others do not seem to be updating at all.  Maybe they are.  I have no idea if there is stuff I want to read or not.  I noticed that you have had problems since August 11.  I’m not sure if they are the same problems I’m talking about or not and I don’t see any updates on the issue since then.

I downloaded Thunderbird today.  I have a laptop now that I plan on having it with me almost anywhere I’ll be in front of a computer connected to the internet.  My need for an online RSS reader has diminished.  But, I would still prefer to use an online reader for when I am at my parents’ and in-laws’ houses or just don’t feel like bringing a laptop somewhere.

I’ll make you a deal.  I’m moving the feeds one at a time so that I can weed out some that I am not reading anymore.  I’ll race you.  If I finish first, I’ll probably stick with Thunderbird.  If you get everything fixed, or at least update your about/news page to tell us what is going on, I’ll probably stick around with you.

UPDATE:  Everything does seem to be sorting itself out.  I still have a couple feeds that just will not show that new posts were made.  Thunderbird is picking them up just fine.  The two feeds that I have noticed are feeds that I check daily, so I’m still a little bothered with Bloglines.  Not enough to dump it entirely, but they really need to figure out why certain feeds that used to work just fine are not working anymore.  For anybody keeping track, they are the Newome’s and Scoble’s blogs that I mentioned above.
